The quality commission at the Faculty of Ocean Sciences is a delegate body of the faculty assembly that participates in the planning and monitoring of the faculty’s Internal Quality Guarantee System.

The functions of the Faculty of Ocean Sciences Quality Commission, as set out in chapter 3, item 3.4.3 of the Internal Quality Guarantee System Manual are as follows:

Verify the planning of the faculty system to ensure compliance with the general requirements of the quality system manual, the policy and the quality objectives and requirements set out in the corresponding verification and certification regulations.

Inform the faculty of the policy and the general quality objectives at the faculty. 

Receive and, where applicable, coordinate the establishment of annual targets for the faculty and monitor their execution.

Monitor the effectiveness of procedures through the associated indicators.

Analyse and provide advice on the desirability of any modifications to the operating structure of the faculty.

Monitor the execution of the corrective and/or preventive measures of any project or process that does not have a specific contact assigned for monitoring, such as actions derived from reviewing the system and actions responding to suggestions and complaints.

Study and, where applicable, approve the implementation of proposals to improve the quality system from other members of the faculty. 

Decide on the frequency and duration, within its area of action, of campaigns for surveys to measure the satisfaction of stakeholders.

The commission is informed of the results of the satisfaction surveys by the Quality Coordinator and proposes improvements that may arise from these results.

The composition of the Quality Commission, as set out in the introduction of the Manual for the Internal Quality Guarantee System, is as follows:

Two members from the Dean’s Office;

One representative of the PDI (Administrative and Services Staff) from each of the degree programmes of the faculty (Undergraduate, Masters and PhD);

One representative of the students from each of the degree programmes of the faculty;

One representative of graduates from each of the degree programmes of the faculty;

One representative of the PAS (Teaching Staff);

One representative from society (employers and other stakeholders);

One quality coordinator;

One member from the Quality Area, designated by its management.
