Spanish language course for international students

At the beginning of each semester, the Centro de Linguas of the University of Vigo organizes 60-hours Spanish courses for international exchange students. The objective is to provide the basic knowledge of Spanish to facilitate the academic and social integration of non-Spanish-speaking international students.

Galician culture course for international students

Galician and Spanish are two official languages used within the university administration in Galicia. The Área de Normalización Lingüística organizes free Galician language and culture courses for international exchange students. It is a 75-hour course (50 hours of theory + 25 hours of guided tours).

INCOMING EXCHANGE STUDENTS

Academic offer

This is our academic offer (Teaching Guides) to complete your Learning Agreement with the chosen courses.

In the first semester we offer the following subjects in English:

  • Marine Botany
  • Physics
  • Sedimentology
  • Marine Pollution
  • Ocean Dynamics

All subjects are taught in Spanish and/or Galician. However, some subjects are English Friendly. These are taught in Spanish and/or Galician, but teachers are committed to:

  • Translate the teaching guide into English
  • Provide materials and references in English, if asked ,by the international student
  • Speak in English in tutorships if asked by the international student
  • Design and write tests in English if asked by the international student

  • In order to come to the Faculty of Marine Sciences as an exchange student, you should first verify whether there is a cooperation agreement between us and your home university for your field of study:

  • Afterwards, your home university must send us your nomination, confirming that you have been granted the status as a student of Erasmus or other international mobility programme.

Application procedure

Deadlines for online application
From March 15 to June 15 1st / fall semester or full academic year students
From September to November 15 2nd / spring semester students

ERASMUS + TRAINEESHIP

If you wish to take an internship in one of the departments or laboratories of the Marine Sciences Faculty, you should in advance agree with your tutor (traineeship coordinator) on the exact dates of your traineeship and the . If you don´t know any teacher or researcher but you want to come to our faculty, please contact to the academic coordinator, Elsa Vázquez Otero (eotero@uvigo.es); she will help you to find a tutor depending on your interest.

The tutor (traineeship coordinator) will communicate to the academic coordinator, Elsa Vázquez Otero (eotero@uvigo.es), the details of the student who wishes to undertake the traineeship:

  • Name
  • ID number
  • Sending institution
  • Planned period of the mobility

How to apply?

Once this agreement between you, your tutor at UVIGO, and your traineeship coordinator has been reached, you will need to fill the online application form and upload to the application form the following documents:

You can submit your form at any time. It is not necessary to adjust to the deadlines that apply to the traineeship.

Once you send the application form, please communicate it to the academic coordinator at the Faculty of Marine Sciences, Elsa Vázquez Otero (eotero@uvigo.es).

Admission

Once the application is received and the documentation provided is checked, the International Relations Office (ORI) of the Universidade de Vigo will send the applicant a welcome email with his/her attached Acceptance Letter.
